Woolrich Woolen Mills Fall / Winter 2011 Menswear Presentation

Mark McNairy takes over at Woolrich Woolen Mills for Fall/Winter 2011 menswear and infuses youthful energy and modern styling to the heritage brand.  The collection is heavily outerwear focused and we couldn't be happier!  Despite being heavily rooted in workwear, the collection has a very modern feel to it.

Favorite pieces include pieced plain woven shirt, patch pocket wool blazer, canvas tote, and the printed duffle coats.  Side note: rolled pant hems for winter.

NOWNESS Presents: Animating Chanel Stop Motion Video

The innovative mind of Peter Philips, Chanel's Global Creative Director of Makeup, conceptualized this amazingly cute and cool animated stop motion video featuring the Chanel line of cosmetics.  From a jet propelled robot to a beaming sun god and featuring anything from brushes to lipgloss, this video is a very chic and unique presentation.  Quite honestly, I expect nothing less from Chanel (easily one of my favorite women's brand.)!

Christian L'Enfant Roi Fall / Winter 2011 Preview + Short Film

CQC gives us a preview and a short film directed by Kevin Calero for Montreal based Christian L'Enfant Roi Fall/Winter 2011 collection that will debut February 10th.  The collection is inspired by a character in Huysmans' À Rebours (Against the Grain), an reclusive eccentric that retreats into an ideal artistic world of his own creation due to his disdain for  19th century bourgeois society.  The wonderful muted color palette and melancholic mood are taken from the works by Hernan Bas, who's modern works reference old world romantic imagery.

I can't wait for the full collection!

Cheap Monday Spring / Summer 2011 Lookbook

Swedish denim brand Cheap Monday Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook shows a collection inspired by "Latin denim fashions, Italian diamonte and LA celebrity taste".   When I first read that, I was a bit scared at the potential to look overly decorated and tacky (I think it was the "LA celebrity taste" that threw me off).  But, the collection actually looks contemporary and fashionably embellished!

I love the formal/casual play in all the looks.

Mimetic Desire - A short fashion film by Jason Last & Jamie Rubiano

Jason Last and Jamie Rubiano collaborates on "Mimetic Desire", a short film featuring super model Nicolas Ripoll, dressed in Dior Homme.  Shot at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris, the film has the signature dark, haunting style for which Last is known.  Simply mesmerizing.

Jason Last is credited with lots of short fashion films and has worked with such names as Martin Martin Margiela, Ungaro, and also creatively consulted Kanye West on the amazing "Runaway" video.

"Jabito" Capsule Video: Royal Hem Fall / Winter 2011 Menswear

Italy based Royal Hem Fall/Winter 2011 collection debuted this year at Pitti Uomo and featured an interesting capsule titled "Jabito."  For the capsule, Royal Hem commissioned artist/animator Josep Prat Sorolla to bring the capsule to life.  I love the result!

Enjoy the video.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN: Kitsune Fall / Winter 2011 Menswear Lookbook

Kitsune Fall/Winter 2011 Menswear lookbook is cleverly titled, "Brokeback Mountain".  The looks are....drum roll please.... workwear/cowboy inspired!  But, in the irony there's great styling and a much more tailored design.  While the concept is not new territory, I can see these pieces as stables for every guy.  This is Americana...with French flair.

Definitely an interesting lookbook from the French music/fashion powerhouse.

Side note: shearling is everywhere for Fall 2011!

Shopping LIst: Converse by John Varvatos Painted Flag & Studded Chuck All Stars

Those who know me, knows that I love Chucks, especially when they are Converse by John Varvatos.  This style that has just dropped is a painted flag and studded version that reminds me of ones I use to DIY when I was younger and more rebellious.  (DID YOU KNOW, that back then I even a tongue piercing which made my entire family cringe?)

Anyhoo, maybe it's time to revisit my rebellious side.  This is one for the shopping list!
