Shanghai Museum of Glass

Shanghai's new Museum of Glass is amazing feat of design and technology.  Opened just last week, the glass art space is a must for anyone in the Shanghai area that want to get their minds blown.  Definitely putting this on my list of places to visit when I'm in China next time.

From the website:

The Shanghai Glass Company Ltd initiated and sponsored the establishment of the Shanghai Museum of Glass. Having witnessed the industrial development of glass in Shanghai, this Company has painstakingly preserved and recorded one hundred years of glass history and culture. Observing that an ordinary glass factory had such an extraordinary history, Zhang Lin, CEO of the Shanghai Glass Museum, transformed the once hot and stuffy glass factory into a space for artistic creation; a place where the ordinary glass renders, in a creative manner, the extraordinary imaginations and endless sharing.

Sharing the unlimited possibilities of glass is both the vision and the true value of the Shanghai Museum of Glass. After exploring dozens of museums around the world, the Museum’s founding committee invited the German architectural team Tilman Thuermer to design the Museum based on a concept juxtaposing past and present. The design that emerged integrates the building’s original structure and unique characteristics while adding modern functionality and symbolism. The colorful glass art space shares an essential creative experience with visitors, setting a new direction for International Museums of the future.  Both the building glass and the top glass artwork on display inside offer an unforgettable combination of art and technology to visitors. On top of this, Shanghai University provides academic and artistic support to the Museum.

Shanghai Museum of Glass seeks to create a new kind of experience in museums, to contract the distance between China and the Western, glass art and the other artistic forms, history and works, culture and industry, glass art and human beings with rich knowledge of history, fabulous art works, an open communication space and community-based channels of promotion.

Shopping List: Celine iPad Case Box

To say that I'm obsessed about this Celine iPad case box would be an understatement.  It's just so perfect...so Celine!

But I have never been able to justify getting a case that costs more than for which the item it is intended.... so, I guess I'll keep obsessing.  Perhaps if there was an attache version.... hint hint.

Enjoy the close-ups.

Stone Island Heat Reactive Bomber Jacket Video

To accompany the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Stone Island released a video to present the Heat Reactive Jacket.  A hooded bomber jacket in cotton nylon canvas covered with thermosensitive liquid crystals, the garments changes colors according to the wearer's body temperature - the warmer, the lighter the jacket turns and conversely, the cooler, the darker.

Think....a wearable mood ring.  I wonder if it can tell me what mood I'm in too.  Amazing!

Related, see my coverage of Stone Island Shadow S/S 2011 menswear lookbook here.
