Laend Phuengkit Spring / Summer 2013 Menswear Lookbook

It's my first exposure to Berlin based designer Laend Phuengkit whose eponymous menswear line launched in 2010.  For the Spring / Summer 2013 lookbook, he takes to jumping to show off the fluidity and the drape in his designs.

Phuengkit's aesthetic is an exploration in creativity by incorporating the use of european and asian patterns and lifestyles through the use of shapes, patterns and prints, and drape. I'm looking forward to seeing more from this designer.

Patrick Braun - Fashion Meets Art Graduate Menswear Collection

Recently came across the graduate work of Patrick Braun and found it very interesting.  In his thesis collection at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld,  he re-examines the idea of art and it's relationship to fashion.  In a collection titled, EUPHORIA AND FEAR, MODERNITY AND DYNAMISM, BRILLIANCE AND SPEED, SUPERFICIALITY AND TRANSIENCE, he transforms 1950s family portraits with mixed media techniques into "graphic" for apparel.  The pieces can then transform back into illustrations/artwork on stretcher as pieces of art.

Interesting.  So are we to view these as art or as fashion?  I guess this can open a whole can of worms with the idea of commercial art vs. high fashion.... something to think about!  Everything is a bit to commercial nowadays isn't it?

Something different and self examining... I love it.

BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE Fall / Winter 2011 Menswear Lookbook

Berlin based brand BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE Fall/Winter 2011 menswear lookbook is another strong showing from the design duo Maria Thomas and Thoas Lindner.

BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE Spring / Summer 2011

Berlin based design duo Maria Thomas and Thoas Lindner shows a pretty directional lookbook for BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE S/S 2011. They have definitely inspired me enough to take a trip to Berlin to check out their amazing pieces and the city that has inspired these creations.

Intelligent design and a beautiful lookbook, it doesn't get much better.
