Soulland Spring / Summer 2012 Menswear Lookbook

Danish label Soulland Spring/Summer 2012 Menswear Lookbook is inspired by the gardens.  The prints in the collections are the stars and there's something really romantic about the lookbook images.  I am not a huge fan of printed shirting but I can definitely see myself wearing these.  Maybe I've been converted.

I'm seriously loving all the pattern going on in Henrik Vibskov's Spring/Summer 2012 menswear collection.  Having just presented last week in Copenhagen, the looks are, true to form for Henrik Vibskov, quirky and off beat.  Favorite pieces have to be the drop crotch pieced pant and the oversized cardigan.

Uncommon Creature Spring / Summer 2012 Menswear Lookbook

Copenhagen based Uncommon Creatures Spring / Summer 2012 Menswear lookbook is inspired by poet Ghani Abdul Khan’s love for the local habitats of the pathan people.  Titled The Protagonist of ةلحر ةيدبٔا, the looks are avant garde and the lookbook inspirational.

I want to talk about the pathans, the people I love, which makes may task harder than ever. I want you to love them as I do. But the pathan is not easy to love. He takes a lot of knowing. He is a most complicated simplicity. I want to bring him down from the peaks of Khyber and the fields of Hashtnager face to face with you in his torn clothes and shoes, his eyes full of manliness, laughter and the devil, and his head full of a childish and noble pride – the chief camouflage he uses to hide his poverty and want. Yes, I want to bring him to you and make him talk to you – of his struggle and his dreams, of love and feuds, his field and his watch-tower, his new rifle and his old wife.the pathan are a rain-sown wheat: they all came up on the same day; they are all the same. Uncommon Creatures Fall / Winter 2011 Menswear Lookbook

Copenhagen based Uncommon Creatures Fall/Winter 2011 menswear collection is inspired by the nomadic lifestyle of the Gypsies, outlawed in 1964 by the Communist regime.  I love the draping and the simplicity in the design, despite being so-called "avante garde."  I actually think the collection is extremely wearable.

"The nomadic lifestyle was outlawed during Communism as of 1964, with disastrous results for thousands of Gypsies. The Communist regime covered up the problems, resulting in the fact that even today there are Gypsies living under conditions that were common thousands of years ago. When the regime also forbade ”traveling,” many villages offered them a home, among them villages like Viseu de Sus, situated and hidden in the Maramures mountains in Romania. The silhouette of uncommon creatures is avant-garde and raw while keeping a high degree of simplicity and quality. For Fall/Winter 2011, textiles such as pre-washed raw silk, universal blankets (used by Romanian Gypsies) and Japanese knit with silk are used. In addition a few knit styles are 100% wool and produced by a local manufacturer in Denmark. Likewise, all hats are created by hand in a Copenhagen attic by an elderly hat-maker. "
